Details |
The property is best described as being "almost
on one level". There are no steep stairways, just the odd step
in and out of some rooms. Being a traditional farmhouse, it has
thick exterior walls. During the hot summer days this provides
welcome relief (should you need it!) from the hot summer sun. The
kitchen and salle cheminee face south and look out over the well
and walled terrace. These rooms lead directly on to the terrace,
the terrace to the lawn and the lawn to the pool. There is an acre of garden and this means that whilst being spacious enough
to relax on your holiday, you will still be close enough to keep
an eye on the little ones. |
Sleeping
The farmhouse has 4 large bedrooms. The family
room contains a double bed, a single bed and a cot. There are two
double rooms, one with en suite. The final bedroom has 2 singles.
All bedrooms have ample wardrobe space and three of them have French
windows allowing direct access to the garden. There is also a sofa
bed in the salon, so you can even cater for the occasional guest. |
The bathroom
facilities are new and freshly decorated. The en suite has a large
shower cubicle, basin and toilet. Another bathroom has a bath with
shower and a basin. Adjacent to this is a separate toilet room. |
Cooking and dining
There are several options. Firstly, the kitchen
is equipped with all new appliances: a gas hob, a Bosche oven with rotisserie, a microwave/grill/oven, a dishwasher and everything one would expect to cater for
your party. |
The superb climate allows outside dining from
as early as April right through to October. The teak, garden dining
table and matching carvers are ideal for meals taken on the terrace.
Wonderful, tasty, local bread, cheese and charcuterie with freshly
brewed coffee make a great start to the day. For lunch the fresh,
local, market salad products actually taste like salad! If the sun
is too hot or bright, an electric awning gives ample shade. The
hot summer evenings are ideal for BBQs. Try using the vine clippings.
These burn easily and give the food a wonderful flavour. Later on,
because of the lack of light pollution, the stargazing is superb. |
Alternatively, next to the kitchen is the dining room. This is complete with local, hand-made, oak furniture
and provides comfortable dining. Here, there is also a new American
style fridge/freezer with icemaker. The drinks stay cool during
the day and are directly on hand at night.

This large room has magnificent
views to the west, overlooking vineyards. It contains 3 large, comfortable
sofas and a TV/DVD player. There are also games, details of trips
and a variety of reading materials on the bookcase. |
The region benefits from a summer climate similar
to the French Riviera. Average temps for June-Sept are 26, 28, 27,
25 respectively. Sun tan cream is not supplied! Even in May and
October the area experiences very respectable temperatures. The
floodlit pool is open from May to October. It has its own sun bathing
area, sun loungers and solar shower. It is long enough for serious
swimmers and has a shallow gradient from 1m - 1.5m for safety. The
water is purified by a salt system and the safety cover
meets the law governing pool safety. |
The mature gardens are well looked after and contain many shrubs, trees
and roses. If ripe, please help yourself to the fruit and nuts!
The Exterior
The house is accessed via electric gates and there is secure parking
for 5 vehicles, 2 of which can be kept undercover in the hangar.
The utility room, boiler and log store are also in this area.
